Caroline Callison Tiffin
Personal Injury Lawyer Caroline Callison Tiffin, an associate with McWhirter, Bellinger and Associates, P.A., joined the firm in April, 2008. She works primarily in the firm’s Columbia office, and practices in litigation and all areas of personal injury, including automobile accidents and wrongful death.
Ms. Tiffin is a cum laude graduate of the University of South Carolina where she received her B.A. in Journalism in 1982. She is a graduate of the National Center for Paralegal Training in Atlanta, Georgia and was a paralegal from 1984 to 1986. She received her J.D. in December,1987 from the University of South Carolina School of Law, where she was a member of the Order of Wig & Robe. She was admitted to the South Carolina Bar in May, 1988; to the United States District Court for the District of South Carolina in October 1988; and to the United States Court of Appeals, Fourth Circuit, in 1989.
Ms. Tiffin practiced personal injury, workers’ compensation, and police civil liability law with the firm of Leventis, Wicker & Callison from 1988 to 1993, where she was counsel to the South Carolina Law Enforcement Officers Association. She was an Assistant Attorney General for the State of South Carolina from 1993 to 2000, where she served as a prosecutor for the State Grand Jury, practiced criminal appellate law and was counsel to the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division. She was Assistant General Counsel to the South Carolina Department of Juvenile Justice from 2000 to 2002. In 2002, she founded Palmetto Hope International Adoption, a child placing agency, and was the Executive Director until 2008, while also practicing adoption and immigration law.
Ms. Tiffin is a member of the South Carolina Bar Association, the Lexington County Bar Association, and the North American Council on Adoptable Children, and is licensed by the South Carolina Department of Social Services to prepare adoptive home studies. She is a founder and board member of Hope for the Family, a charitable organization providing humanitarian aid in Guatemala. Ms. Tiffin speaks Spanish.
