NuvaRing

NuvaRing is a popular and effective form of birth control that has recently come under intense scrutiny. Many deaths and serious illnesses have been associated with this dangerous drug. NuvaRing is manufactured by Merck. Merck was formally Schering-Plough and that company was formally Organon. NuvaRing is available by prescription and is a flexible ring made out of plastic. It releases estrogen and progrestin over the course of three weeks. The ring is removed for seven days and then a new ring is inserted.

Using NuvaRing properly will help prevent pregnancy, but may also cause the onset of many side effects. NuvaRing contains desogestrel that makes NuvaRing a third generation contraceptive. Contraceptives that contain desogestrel may increase the risk of blood clots by up to 2.4 times the risk of second generation contraceptives.
