Stephen B. Samuels

Stephen B. Samuels, an attorney with the Columbia office of McWhirter, Bellinger & Associates, joined the firm in 1997.  His practice is dedicated to representing injured workers in workers’ compensation cases. 

He received his B.S. from the University of North Carolina-Wilmington in 1983 and his J.D. from the University of South Carolina School of Law in 1997.  As a law student, he was a member of the Order of Wig and Robe, and Associate Symposium Editor for the South Carolina Law Review.  Mr. Samuels was research assistant for Professor David G. Owen, coauthor of Prosser and Keeton on Torts. He is a member of the American Association for Justice, South Carolina Trial Lawyers Associations, Injured Workers Advocates and the South Carolina Workers' Compensation Education Association.

Mr. Samuels has tried more than one hundred workers’ compensation cases, concentrating on legally complex issues.  He speaks several times a year at workers’ compensation seminars and conferences.  He is also an active appellate lawyer who has appeared 6 times before the South Carolina Supreme Court and over 20 times before the South Carolina Court of Appeals.

Originally from Cape Town, South Africa, Mr. Samuels lives in Columbia with his wife Roopal and their two Shi-Tzu dogs, Kemcho and Aujo, aka Lump and Fidget
